PAPER MENORAH
A
CHANUKAH MENORAH HAS EIGHT BRANCHES PLUS A PLACE FOR AN EXTRA
CANDLE THAT IS USED TO LIGHT THE OTHERS.

MATERIALS
scissors
tape
butcher paper (optional)
colored wrapping paper
empty shoebox (no lid needed)
yellow tissue paper
|
|
1. First
create the 9 candles of the menorah. Cut colorful wrapping paper
into 9 rectangles about the size of a piece of notebook paper. Roll
1 lengthwise into a tube and tape closed to make 1 tall candle.
Roll the other 8 sheets sideways into tubes for shorter candles.
Cut three slits (about 1 inch deep) at the bottom of each tube and
fan out to create a stand you can tape to a base. |
|
2. Next
make the base. Wrap the shoebox in wrapping paper or butcher paper.
Turn the wrapped box upside down and tape the candles onto the base,
arranging so the tall candle is in the middle back and the 4 candles
on each side curve toward the front. You can decorate the front
of the base with a Star of David or any other special design, if
you'd like. |
|
3. Now
"light" your candles. Cut yellow tissue paper into 9 small pieces
(5-inch squares) and stuff into the top of each candle. |
